A man who changed his Facebook profile picture to Where's Wally as he was being sought after by police has given himself in, live via web-based networking media.

JJ McMenamin had provoked officers, who sent a helicopter and sniffer canines in their look for him throughout the end of the week, by superimposing a photo of his go to the slippery character's body.

The 30-year-old posted the photo on his Facebook page with the inscription: "Man... I'm ideal here."

In another picture, he portrayed himself as a "find the stowaway champion".

On Monday morning he recorded himself on Facebook Live, wearing Wally's renowned red and white stripes, as he was headed to the police headquarters by companions.

In the video he told his Facebook adherents: "I'm appropriate outside the cop shop now."

Another video indicated him playing Kenny Rogers' The Gambler, Lionel Richie's Hello - giggling at the line, "is it me you're searching for?" - and the Spencer Davis Group's Keep On Running.

McMenamin was needed regarding asserted driving offenses.

A representative from North Yorkshire Police stated: "A 30-year-old man from Middleham has been captured after he gave himself into officers at Harrogate Police Station.

"The capture comes after broad police scans for the man throughout the end of the week, after he neglected to turn up for a court hearing for driving offenses."
