North Korea conducts ballistic missile test

North Korea has terminated a ballistic rocket in the principal such test since Donald Trump took office as US president.

Mr Trump guaranteed Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that "America remains behind Japan, its awesome partner, 100%".

The rocket flew east towards the Sea of Japan for around 500km (300 miles), South Korean authorities say.

Mr Abe said the test was "totally unfortunate". Japanese authorities say the rocket did not achieve its waters.

Talking at a joint meeting amid a visit to the US, Mr Abe included that Mr Trump had additionally guaranteed him that he was resolved to "further upholding our collusion".

Amid his race battle, Mr Trump said US safeguard duties to Japan and South Korea were out of line and furthermore called for Japan to pay the full cost of positioning US troops on its dirt.

North Korea has led various atomic tests in the previous year that proceed to caution and outrage the area.

Sunday's dispatch occurred at 07:55 nearby time (22:55 GMT Saturday) from the Banghyon air construct in North Pyongan area with respect to the west side of the Korean landmass.

The rocket achieved a height of around 550km (350 miles), as per a South Korean authority cited by Reuters news office, and had all the earmarks of being a Rodong medium-go rocket.

In January, North Korean pioneer Kim Jong-un cautioned that his military was near trying long-extend rockets equipped for achieving the United States and conveying atomic warheads.

Mr Trump ridiculed the claim in a tweet, saying: "It won't occur."
